The Maryland Government Finance Officers Association ("MDGFOA") has created
this privacy statement in order to demonstrate our firm commitment to
privacy.
Security Measures
This site has security measures in place to protect the loss, misuse, and
alteration of the information under our control by contracting with Bank of
America to provide various security measures to protect personal information
used in credit card transactions. Encryption is utilized by Bank of America
to prevent data from being understood by an unintended party, and to insure
that data was not altered in transit. This web site does not employ
"Cookies," which could potentially allow a website to track information
about browsing habits during multiple visits to a website.
E-mail Address
Our site’s registration form requires you, the user, to enter certain
information, such as your name and e-mail address. We retain the content of
your e-mail, e-mail address, and our response so that we can more
efficiently handle any follow-up questions that you may have. In addition,
your e-mail address helps us identify you and your needs, and also it may
used to gather demographic and survey information.
Other personal information/Payments over the Internet
In addition, we require you to include your other personal information, such
as your credit card number. MDGFOA does not release that information to
other parties, except in the event we are required to do it by law or as a
part of a MDGFOA contract. For example, MDGFOA is currently under a contract
with Bank of America, an entity that provides various mechanisms enabling
secure credit card payments over the Internet.
On-line surveys
In the event we send on-line surveys, we may ask you for your contact
information, such as your e-mail address. This information is not sold or
made public.

Parent Approval
MDGFOA’s web site does not accept or request information from children - we
do not have any means of age identification. We do not collect online or
offline contact information without prior parental consent. In the event we
receive unsolicited online information without prior parental consent, that
information will only be used to respond directly to the child’s request and
will not be used for any other purposes.
Electronic Registration
As you may be aware, MDGFOA provides certain users with the opportunity to
renew or update their membership, make legal name changes, and query active
memberships. Certain information is made public as displayed on our web
